MerryGlow Customer Terms & Conditions

Last updated: November 2025

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your booking and use of services provided by MerryGlow (“we”, “us”, “our”). By booking our services online, by phone, or by email, you (“the Customer”, “you”, “your”) agree to these Terms.

1. Our Services

MerryGlow provides professional Christmas lighting design, installation, maintenance and takedown services.
All installations are performed by qualified, insured contractors who comply with relevant UK safety standards.

2. Booking and Payment

  • Bookings can be made online or by phone and are subject to availability.

  • A 50%Deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your installation date.

  • The balance payment is due within 5 days of installation completion, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

  • Payments can be made via credit/debit card, Apple Pay, or bank transfer through our secure online payment system.

3. Cancellations and Refunds

  • Cancellations made more than 2 days before the scheduled installation may be eligible for a full refund.

  • Cancellations made within 2 days of installation will forfeit the full deposit.

  • In the unlikely event MerryGlow must cancel or reschedule due to weather, supply delays, or unforeseen issues, we will notify you as soon as possible and offer an alternative date or full refund.

4. Access and Installation Requirements

  • You must ensure safe and clear access to the property at the agreed time.

  • Electrical sockets, access to outdoor areas, and any required permissions (e.g., from landlords or councils) must be arranged by you.

  • Installers may refuse or postpone installation if conditions are unsafe (e.g., icy surfaces, unstable structures, poor weather).

5. Safety and Liability

  • All installations are carried out using certified materials and industry-approved safety practices.

  • While every care is taken, MerryGlow is not liable for any pre-existing damage to property, fixtures, or landscaping.

  • MerryGlow and its contractors hold Public Liability Insurance, but we recommend you ensure your home insurance covers exterior decorative installations.

  • MerryGlow will not be held liable for any issues, damages, or faults arising from defective plugs, electrical sockets, power supplies, or other components of your home’s electrical system.

  • It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure all external sockets and power sources are in safe, working condition and compliant with UK electrical standards prior to installation.

6. Maintenance and Takedown

  • Basic maintenance (e.g., replacing bulbs) within the installation period may be included; additional visits may incur a service fee.

  • Takedown services will be carried out in late December and January subject to availability at a date confirmed after Christmas.

  • Customers must allow access for takedown as arranged; missed appointments may incur rebooking fees.

7. Reuse of Lights and Materials

  • Although we take great care during takedown and packaging, lights and materials may not function as expected when reinstalled the following year due to handling, storage conditions, or product lifespan.

  • Any repairs, replacements, or new materials required will be quoted and charged separately before the next installation.

8. Warranties and Repairs

  • All new lighting products installed are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, typically 12 months.

  • MerryGlow is not responsible for defects outside warranty coverage or damage caused by weather, pests, power surges, or third-party interference.

9. Limitation of Liability

MerryGlow’s total liability, whether in contract or tort, shall not exceed the total fees paid by you for the service in question.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from the use of our services.

10. Customer Conduct

  • We expect all customers to treat our staff and contractors with respect. Abusive, threatening, or unreasonable behaviour may result in termination of services without refund.

11. Data Protection

  • Your personal information is collected and processed in accordance with UK GDPR and our Privacy Policy.

  • We only use your details for the purpose of providing our services and will never share your data with third parties without consent.

12. Governing Law

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes shall be handled exclusively in the courts of England.
